Are you a teen who loves expressing yourself through theatre? Come audition for Astonishing Teens' production of SIX: Teen Edition!

Storyline

Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived.

From Tudor queens to pop icons, the six wives of Henry VIII take the stage to remix five hundred years of history in this electrifying, high-energy musical. Each queen shares her own story through powerful pop anthems, competing to prove who had the most difficult life—until they discover that they are so much more than the stories history has told about them.

Packed with catchy songs, dynamic choreography, and messages of empowerment, SIX: TEEN EDITION celebrates confidence, resilience, and finding your own voice. This contemporary concert-style musical is a fun, inspiring, and unforgettable experience for performers and audiences alike.

Auditions

Auditions will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026 at Pamelot Dance Studio (540 Wall St. Auburn, CA 95603). Checkin will begin at 5:00pm and auditions will start promptly at 5:30pm. Auditioners should prepare a 1 minute audition song, pop songs are welcome.

Video auditions are more than welcome if there is a conflict with the audition date. Please know all videos must be received by Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 and should be no longer than 1 minute in length. For video auditioners, audition deposits must be paid by July 21st, in order for your video submission to be considered by the artistic team. Please submit your video auditions by email to austin@astonishingtheatre.org

All auditioners will come on Friday, July 24th, 2026 to Pamelot Dance Studio at 5pm for a dance call (please come in movable clothes/shoes and bring a water bottle).  Auditions and dance call are open, meaning anyone who would like to support the auditioners are welcome.

SIX: Teen Edition Requirements

  • Ages 13-19, auditioners must be 13 by July 23rd and still 19 by October 4th.

  • Audition Deposit: $50 (Due no later than July 23rd for in person auditions and July 21st for video auditions)

  • Participation Fee: $200 (due August 22nd)

Callbacks

Invited callbacks will be at Pamelot Dance Studio on Friday, July 24, 2026 following the dance call.  Invited callbacks are closed, meaning only the artistic team and auditioners will be allowed into callback spaces.

Catherine of Aragon

Mezzo/Belter • A3–E5

Henry VIII's first wife and the determined leader of the Queens. Strong-willed, confident, and fiercely independent, she refuses to be defined by her marriage. Requires a powerful belt, commanding stage presence, and excellent confidence.

Anne Boleyn

Mezzo/Soprano • C4–F5

Clever, witty, and rebellious, Anne Boleyn brings humor and energy to the stage. She hides vulnerability behind sarcasm and playful antics. Needs strong comedic timing, pop vocal style, and lots of personality.

Jane Seymour

Lyric Mezzo/Soprano • A3–D5

The kind-hearted and compassionate queen who believes in the power of love. Her emotional ballad is one of the show's most touching moments. Requires warm vocals with emotional storytelling and sincerity.

Anna of Cleves

Alto/Mezzo • G3–E5

Confident, fearless, and unapologetically herself, Anna embraces life after her marriage ends. She delivers one of the show's biggest crowd-pleasing numbers with humor and swagger. Needs strong rhythm, charisma, and stage presence.

Katherine Howard

Soprano/High Belt • A3–F5

Outgoing, glamorous, and seemingly carefree, Katherine uses confidence to mask a more complicated past. Her story reveals strength beneath the sparkle. Requires excellent pop vocals, dance ability, and emotional depth.

Catherine Parr

Mezzo/Soprano • G3–D5

Intelligent, compassionate, and inspiring, Catherine Parr encourages the queens to reclaim their own stories. She serves as the emotional anchor of the finale with maturity and quiet confidence. Requires strong vocal control and heartfelt acting

Featured Ensemble: Ladies-in-Waiting

Vocal Range: Any (Soprano, Alto, Mezzo)

The Ladies-in-Waiting are a featured dance ensemble that helps bring the concert to life. They support the queens through dynamic choreography, visual storytelling and theatrical movement, helping illustrate key moments from each queen's journey. These performers remain active throughout the show, creating transitions, enhancing the concert atmosphere, and adding energy and emotion while serving as an extension of each queen's story.

Ensemble Skills

  • Confident performers with expressive acting through movement

  • Comfortable singing ensemble harmonies and backing vocals

  • Ability to create high-energy concert moments while supporting the principal cast
