Storyline
Annie Jr. is a heartwarming, family-friendly musical that follows the adventures of Annie, a brave and optimistic orphan determined to find the parents who left her years ago. Along the way, she captures the heart of billionaire Oliver Warbucks and proves that hope, kindness, and perseverance can change lives. Filled with unforgettable songs, lively dance numbers, and lovable characters, Annie JR. is a timeless story of family, friendship, and believing that "the sun will come out tomorrow."
Auditions
Auditions will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2026 at Pamelot Dance Studio (540 Wall St. Auburn, CA 95603). Checkin will begin at 5:00pm and auditions will start promptly at 5:30pm. Auditioners should prepare a 1 minute audition song, pop songs are welcome.
Video auditions are more than welcome if there is a conflict with the audition date. Please know all videos must be received by Monday, August 17th, 2026 and should be no longer than 1 minute in length. For video auditioners, audition deposits must be paid by July 21st, in order for your video submission to be considered by the artistic team. Please submit your video auditions by email to austin@astonishingtheatre.org
All auditioners will come on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 to Pamelot Dance Studio at 5pm for a dance call (please come in movable clothes/shoes and bring a water bottle). Auditions and dance call are open, meaning anyone who would like to support the auditioners are welcome.
Annie Jr. Edition Requirements
Ages 13-19, auditioners must be 13 by July 23rd and still 19 by October 4th.
Audition Deposit: $50 (Due no later than August 21st for in person auditions and August 17th for video auditions)
Participation Fee: $200 (due August 29th)
Callbacks
Invited callbacks will be at Pamelot Dance Studio on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 following the dance call. Invited callbacks are closed, meaning only the artistic team and auditioners will be allowed into callback spaces.

Annie
Strong Mezzo-Soprano • A3–E5
A spirited, optimistic orphan who believes her parents will return one day. She is fearless, compassionate, and determined, serving as the emotional heart of the show. Requires a confident young performer with strong acting skills and stamina.
Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks
Baritone • A2–E4
A wealthy businessman whose life is transformed after meeting Annie. He begins as serious and emotionally distant but grows into a warm and loving father figure. Needs a commanding stage presence with a warm singing voice.
Grace Farrell
Soprano/Mezzo • B3–D5
Warbucks' intelligent and caring secretary who arranges for Annie to stay at the mansion. She is elegant, organized, and genuinely kind to everyone. A nurturing character with several featured singing moments.
Miss Hannigan
Alto/Character Mezzo • G3–D5
The overworked matron of the orphanage who dreams of an easier life. Though grumpy, selfish, and often comedic, she is one of the show's biggest scene-stealers. Requires excellent comedic timing and expressive acting.
Rooster Hannigan
Tenor/Baritone • B2–G4
Miss Hannigan's flashy, con-man brother who schemes for easy money. He is confident, charming, and manipulative with plenty of comic energy. Needs a performer comfortable with character acting and dancing.
Lily St. Regis
Mezzo-Soprano • C4–E5
Rooster's glamorous but not especially bright girlfriend. She enthusiastically joins his schemes while adding humor and style to every scene. A fun featured role with character singing and movement.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Baritone • A2–D4
The President of the United States who encourages hope during difficult times. He appears briefly but provides an inspiring and reassuring presence. Works well for a confident actor with clear speaking and singing skills.

The youngest orphan who looks up to Annie like a big sister. She is sweet, innocent, and often needs reassurance. A good featured role for one of the younger cast members.
Pepper
Mezzo • B3–D5
The toughest and most outspoken orphan. She is competitive and often challenges Annie but ultimately cares about the other girls. Requires strong personality and energy.
Duffy
Mezzo • B3–D5
One of the older orphans who tends to be practical and loyal. She joins in group numbers and helps create the family dynamic among the girls. A solid featured ensemble role.
Kate

A shy and gentle orphan who is sensitive and kind. She often follows Annie's lead and contributes to the warmth of the orphan group. Suitable for a quieter performer.
Tessie

Known for always wanting to cry, Tessie provides plenty of comic moments. Despite her dramatic personality, she is lovable and energetic. A fun acting role.
